What is USDA Organic Matcha?

Matcha is a traditional Japanese green tea powder made from specially-grown, shade-covered tea leaves. It is the highest quality of green tea available, and has been prized for centuries for its health benefits. Matcha is finely ground into a bright green powder, and is traditionally used to make tea.

Why Organic?

USDA Organic Matcha Tea is the highest quality of organic matcha available. It is made with tea leaves grown without the use of pesticides, fertilizers, or other harmful chemicals. The leaves are shade-covered for several weeks before harvest, then hand-picked and stone-ground into a fine powder. The USDA Organic certification ensures that the tea is produced in accordance with stringent standards and contains no artificial ingredients or preservatives.

Why Ceremonial Grade?

Ceremonial grade matcha is the highest grade of matcha available. It is made with the youngest and most tender tea leaves, and is shade-covered for several weeks before harvest. This process helps to concentrate the tea’s powerful antioxidants and nutrients. The leaves are then hand-picked and stone-ground into a fine powder. This grade of matcha is typically used in Japanese tea ceremonies and is the best quality matcha available.

Brewing Directions:

  1. Heat filtered water to 175˚ F.
  2. Place 1 tsp of tea into a cup.
  3. Pour a small amount of hot water (about 1 oz) into the cup
  4. Whisk the tea powder and water into a paste to prevent clumping.
  5. Pour about 3 oz of water into the cup with the tea paste and whisk again until slightly frothy.
  6. Enjoy as is or add sweetener.

Make an iced matcha tea using the same method as above, but fill your cup with ice and cold water instead after making a paste.
